Without a doubt Sandra has to be the number one in imaginative knits. So…they might not be wearable but they are certainly different and what you would never think of designing and that’s what I’m here to show you. Sandra is famous for her chunky hand knitting creations made of twists, turns and knots, and she say’s that she never puts pen to paper and designs, she works directly on a mannequin and designs from there.
Sandra has in the past found her inspiration from many unusual sources. For this collection she was inspired by the colours of her bruises after an inexplainable fall down a staircase in her studio.
“I did not even take one step onto the stairs, I just fell from the floor upstairs to the floor downstairs. The next thing that I remember is I am sitting in the armchair upstairs again beaten black and blue and then my father called and told me the heartbreaking news that my beloved grandmother had just passed away. She took her last breath at the exact same moment that I fell down the stairs. It felt so strange to me but as my parents said, my grandmother and I have always had a special connection, so I guess it is not that strange after all.”
This collection has reminiscant sandra styles from old collections, but for me, the story behind the collection is what is so inspiring. She uses some beautiful tones of purple and a great pom pom piece. I just can’t wait to see what she does next.
